The Secret To Lasting Physical Change

By Evan Sanders

"The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new. " | Socrates

One of the most fulfilling and most challenging journeys you'll ever go on is seeing what your body is capable of. Maybe you are in shape, wholly out of shape, or just expecting to lose some weight. Nonetheless, developing a body that you really can be proud, one that's healthy, and permits you to truly love every possible last inch of it actually is an amazing journey to undertake.

So what is the secret to making an enduring change with your body?

Consistency and commitment.

There's nothing else like coming to the table every day and giving it your best shot. Your best effort must be yours and yours alone. Don't start comparing your journey to other journeys or else you will become lackadaisical and discouraged. Instead, understand you are competing against and with yourself and yourself alone. Will there be times on your journey where you try and fail? Yes, many times. But every time you do, you should come back with a dedication to achieving something you strongly want. Consistency will keep you in the game and on the field each day. Without it, you may suffer the the inescapable fact of many new years resolutioners who give up every single year on creating the body of their dreams because they do not have the power to keep on coming back again and againand again.

Commitment also suggests itself, but not the commitment you're probably thinking of. In our world, we are fed this idea that everything must occur at the moment and if it does not actually happen right now, it isn't worth it at all. Your body is going to really change throughoutthe years, so why don't you try and make a lifelong promise to remaining healthy? Is that a sexy marketable idea? Not so much. But is it something that could really change the course of your life? Totally.

When you make a promise to keeping your body healthy through your whole life, you will eventually reach whatever goal you wish. It's about seeing the overall picture than simply the few months in front of you till summer. It's honestly about developing something that you truly can be happy with forever. For me, that concept changed the course of my life as I was able to eventually hit my health goals after 12 years of wrestling with my self image and food issues. But as soon as I changed my world view of what I was making an attempt to achieve, everything I had wished for came to me. So try it on for size and see if it might work for you. Make a lifetime commitment to remaining healthy and watch how much your body will change in the short term too.

Bring some commitment and consistency to the table, in all sides of your life, and things will change drastically.
